The position of Mechanic is primarily responsible for assisting in performing routine and specialized mechanical duties, including troubleshooting, repairing and preventive maintenance in all fleet vehicles/equipment. It requires keeping records of work performed and keeping a clean and safe work area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular and punctual attendance is required.
- Maintain accurate fluid levels and tire pressures.
- Perform vehicle diagnostics and troubleshoot various equipment with accuracy and speed.
- Diagnose hydraulic issues, change, repair and fabricate hoses.
- Ensures equipment availability by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures efficiently and thoroughly.
- Maintains equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and maintains equipment service records.
- Inspect and repair hydraulic and air-based braking systems.
- Install and repair electrical systems.
- Welding, cutting and fabrication.
- Manages inventory of small parts and materials by counting stock and verifying receipt.
- Demonstrates a consistent positive attitude to support a productive work environment. Cooperates, communicates, and works well with coworkers.
- Adheres to work rules and Company policies.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment, adheres to safety and security standards in the performance of all job duties, and immediately reports safety hazards or incidents to a supervisor.
- If necessary, travel to job sites to repair equipment in the field quickly and efficiently.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Two (2) year technical school preferred or (2) year mechanic experience is acceptable.
- Valid Driver’s License required, CDL preferred.
- Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol Screen.
- Excellent diagnostic, analysis and problem assessment skills and the ability to collect the necessary information to identify key issues.
- Experience using small hand tools (i.e., screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, utility knife), power tools (i.e., drills, impact wrench), hand carts and pallet jacks, broom, scraper, shovel, and forklift.
- Must be able to read and comprehend various measuring devices (tape, measurer, dip stick)
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Must be able to stand and walk; to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach with arms and use hands and fingers; and push, pull, lift, or carry materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently.
- Must be able to travel in company car to field work for repairs. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours (days/nights/weekends and overtime).
